Deildartunguhver Hot Spring

Start your journey at Europe’s most powerful hot spring. Deildartunguhver erupts with roughly 180 liters per second of nearly boiling water, steaming and bubbling from the earth with incredible force. It’s a remarkable display of Iceland’s geothermal energy in action, with mineral‑tinged rocks and drifting steam creating a surreal, almost primeval atmosphere.

Krauma Geothermal Baths “Optinal “

Krauma offers a chance to relax in naturally heated geothermal pools that are blended with cool glacial water from nearby Langjökull Glacier. With soothing hot tubs, steam rooms, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, Krauma provides a perfect break after sightseeing.

Hraunfossar & Barnafoss Waterfalls

A short distance away, two remarkable waterfalls await:

• Hraunfossar — Unlike typical waterfalls, this stunning cascade forms where countless small streams seep out of the Hallmundarhraun lava field and flow gently into the turquoise Hvítá River. The effect is like a curtain of water stretching across a wide lava shelf.
• Barnafoss — Nearby, the fiery river narrows and accelerates through a rocky channel, creating a dramatic, rushed version of the watercourse. Local folklore tells of tragic tales linked to the waterfall, adding layers of history to its beauty.

Reykholt Historical Site

Reykholt is one of Iceland’s most important historic sites, once the home of Snorri Sturluson, a medieval scholar, poet, and historian whose writings are central to Icelandic cultural heritage and saga literature. Visit Snorri’s pool, ancient longhouses, and informative exhibits that bring Iceland’s medieval past to life.
